Baby Shower Thank You Card Etiquette
Sending a hand written thank you card after your baby shower is a thoughtful and considerate act that really stands out in our busy world!
You should aim to send out thank you cards between 2 to 3 weeks after your baby shower. This gives you time to enjoy the moment of celebrating new baby, start nesting with all the baby gifts you’ve received, and hopefully time to rest!
Remember to send a thank you card to all guests who brought a gift, the hostess (or hostesses), and anyone who sent a gift but was not able to attend.
Your goal with writing thank you cards for your baby shower is to show gratitude for the love shown for your new baby from the people in your life!
Baby Shower Thank You Card Tips & Tricks
I will be honest, most of these tricks may seem like common sense when you first read them. But after writing a handful of baby shower thank you notes, if you’re anything like me, your brain may start to feel like mush. Keep these simple baby shower wording ideas in mind!
1. Address the recipient by name
Common sense, right? But having been on the receiving end of a thank you note that just picked up mid-sentence without saying my name or any greeting, it came off rather mass produced and extremely impersonal. This is an easy one, address the recipient by name!
2. Thank them for the specific gifts they brought
It is so important to thank your guests for the specific gift they brought you. A blanket “thank you for the gift” statement seems very impersonal and is a dead give away that you have no clue what that person actually gifted you. So, be specific!
If the person gave you an assortment of gifts (ie a gift basket), thank them for the assortment and maybe pick out one or two items to highlight.
3. Tell them how you’ll use the gift they brought
This is a fun way to add a little more thought and character to your thank you note, and maybe even a dash of humor!
Examples:
“Thank you so much for the Diaper Genie gift–I know that it will get plenty of use soon enough!”
“I so appreciate the sweet swaddles you gifted to us. I’m sure those will be the ticket to a good night’s rest for our sweet baby boy–and mom and dad, too!”
4. Add something personal
Say something personal to your guest– if they attended your shower, tell them how good it was to see them. If they weren’t able to make it or you had a virtual shower, mention how you would love to catch up with them soon. A small statement directly to the recipient goes a long way.
